The hydraulic resource is by far the most used renewable energy in the world. Around 15% of the electricity used on the planet comes from a hydraulic source.
Humans very quickly learned to capture this incessant movement of the water and to use it to produce mechanical power and then electricity.

Hydraulic power is the second largest source of electricity production in France (11.7% in 2012). In Metropolitan France, there are roughly 2,000 hydroelectric plants, representing 25.4 GW of installed capacity. (source: EDF)

Adaptable, hydraulic energy offers responses that can be adjusted to electricity demands in relation to energy consumption peaks because it is quickly mobilized.

Quadran designs and builds hydroelectric plants and looks to acquire existing hydraulic power plants with the goal of operating them in the best possible conditions. Quadran is interested in all cessions of hydroelectric plants whose installed capacity is between 300 kW and 4,500 kW.

Points of Reference

At the end of 2017, Quadran operates 9 hydroelectric power plants situated in the Alps, the Pyrenees, and Occitanie, for a total capacity of 5 MW. 3 of them are operated by Quadran on behalf of third parties. 3 new power plants totaling 7 MW are under construction in 2018.

New projects are being developed and new permits have been obtained.

The advantages of hydroelectricity

Hydroelectricity is a renewable energy that is reliable and regular and which doesn't emit any greenhouse gases.
• A tried and true technology, born at the beginning of rural  electrification.
• Decentralized energy production that plays a part in the security of our energy supply and supports the rural electricity grid.
• Very low-cost.
